Robinia pseudoacacia 'Purple Robe'

This is a very tough tree that grows well in hot, dry and windy conditions. It is drought tolerant once established and will grow in poor soil. Early summer brings lots of long, pendulous clusters of very fragrant purplish pink flowers. Its compound leaves turn pale yellow in fall.

It produces a 2- to -4-inch brown pod that matures in October and persists into winter.
