Around dusk inn late summer and early autumn the Sphinx Moth, also known as the hummingbird or hawk moth, is often found flying around dusk. They are frequently mistaken for small hummingbirds due to their remarkable resemblance, their ability to hover in front of flowers, and their protruding proboscis. They especially like hollyhocks.
